I met up with my friends Chrissy and "PIMP-C" for Happy Hour at MI VIDA (575 7th Street, NW, WDC, USA) to dive into the key principles that should shape how men treat women, promoting a culture of respect and kindness. Central to our conversation was the idea of respect, which forms the foundation of any meaningful relationship. All we needed was good drinks & dumb jokes!!

Gotta stay funky, gotta stay shit, gotta stay shit, yeah. Be everything that you know you can be, yeah. Gotta stay funky, gotta stay shit. Be everything that you know you can be.
SPEAKER_05Out of all platforms. Who keeps it funky and see? Listen, listen, family. I'm here today with Chrissy. What you want me to call you? Because I don't know if the cops are asking you.
SPEAKER_04Oh, huh?
SPEAKER_05Kim C. Kim C. We got Kim C. She hiding from somebody. But that's all good. Don't tell off my business. I don't like it. But listen, listen. We sitting here and we're getting the grass. We had the happy hour joint. We we drinking and we laughing and we giggling, and it came up about relationships, you know. One of the age old topics, you know, how a man meets a woman, how a woman wants to be treated. We we kind of got off on the topic of how women are being approached. And so I wanted to get into that so the ladies can just give me their point of view because everybody wants a ready-made wife and a ready-made husband. But these are coming from single people in most cases who haven't been either at any time in their lives. But I think more than being the thing you want to be, you have to be intentional about the person so that you can become what it is you want to be. What you gotta say, Pam?
SPEAKER_07Nobody has intention in today's time. They don't even know what intention is. They're just doing shit. Ain't nobody doing nothing with a purpose. They're just doing it. And wonder why they can't get on. Don't understand. You think you're gonna get a man because you went in the streets and put on a sexy dress? Do you love yourself? Because he's gonna see that from across the street.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Easily. You might not see it, but he saw it from across the street. Exactly.
SPEAKER_05Meaning I don't have to work so hard for her. Because you're gonna say, okay. Exactly. Because apparently you it's the body you're selling. I'm with it. Let's go. But then she'll come back and say, Well, he only came by to well, we did what grown folks do, because you was naked in the street.
SPEAKER_01Naked?
SPEAKER_07Naked naked, naked in the street, asking for it, but now you don't want it. Make up your mind. Do you know what you want?
SPEAKER_05So it's a delicate balance there. So so how would you approach that?
SPEAKER_07I'm not even saying you can't dress a certain way. I'm just saying the way you carry yourself is what they see. That's all I'm saying.
SPEAKER_05Gotcha. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_07Thank you.
SPEAKER_05I gotcha. And for men, then they're not gonna work. They're not gonna have to work hard. I mean, honestly, a man is a man. And he's gonna if he don't have to work hard for he may intentionally want it. He may intentionally want it. Yeah, he may intentionally want it. Um, and he may stay around, but if he don't have to work hard, he's not a good one.
SPEAKER_01This is the thing.
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna tell you this.
SPEAKER_01Women, you need to be his friend first so that you matter. What does that mean?
SPEAKER_05And you'll consider friendship, knowing people, being familiar, taking the time to build, building connection, not just communicating.
SPEAKER_07So you want women to be vulnerable to your session?
SPEAKER_05And men. Picture that. But you but that's the key. You have to be vulnerable, and there needs to be some transparency, some freedom in order for you to engage somebody. But the reason I say be a friend is because men are wise to just enjoy, take, conquer, and move on. If there's a friendship, there's a basis of relationship, a connection, there may be more consideration. I'm not not saying, I'm not not saying, I'm not not saying he may not roll off after. But you give yourself a better chance to keep giving yourself an opportunity to build with somebody, and maybe you'll see whether or not he's worthy of that prize or not before you give it up. Or if that's the way you want to be, you just want to hit and quit and build when you can. All those things are your choices. I just think you need to be intentional, not say I want to be committed, but when I get there, you make it.
SPEAKER_07And no offense, don't you want something, and then when you get there, be like, oh, I changed my mind. Because now you're playing with people. Okay. Why do you think that is? Because they realize they have to be intentional once they get there. That's a scary thing for most people. That's why I don't want to be on here. That is exactly what you're doing.
SPEAKER_05But you know, that's why I want you here, because it is that very thing that I have a quote I say all the time lead with intention and love with your heart. You gotta be intentional lead with intention and live. I'm sorry, live with your heart. Meaning there is always some measure of trans. Um what am I trying to say? There's always some measure when you meet people. You gotta give something that you may not want to give, they may not know, may not be what they're looking for, may not be, may not be something they can handle.
SPEAKER_07And do me a favor acknowledge and accept your insecurities before that man or that woman gets there, so you're not projecting that shit on them. Please and thank you.
SPEAKER_05MC.
SPEAKER_07My drop. MC. Because how are you gonna come with someone? No, seriously though, how you gonna come with someone with no intention and then think it's supposed to be intentional?
SPEAKER_05Mmm.
SPEAKER_07Because they think they're interested enough to let you know that I'm here. What do you think I want? Intention means I have to be vulnerable because I'm doing it with a purpose. If I can't open up to you, why am I opening up to you? My flower don't need to see you if I can't open up to you.
SPEAKER_05But there's so many in the flowers that don't require us being connected. Flowers just claw them and blue some.
SPEAKER_04Then that comes in play quantity versus quality, then.
SPEAKER_07Nobody's looking for quality.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, nobody's looking for. Things like that. And then we're not commodities. I mean, we're human beings. Yeah, exactly. We're magical beings. And actually, sex is such a spiritual and a magical place that we give so much to people and give so much of ourselves away, and often take people into our souls that we're not really connected to. And now we all conflicted with that emotion of it and their energy and who they are, and now we're carrying them around and they're no longer took nowhere to be found.
SPEAKER_07Soul ties are real. Oh, yeah. But but what? But when I do my little rituals to break them niggas away from me, oh, I'm a voodoo priestess then. No, seriously. I'm dead out. Yes, yes. But I don't want those ties. I'm I'm breaking. You're burning your sage. My sage ain't gonna do it. I'm doing I'm doing some real shit. I don't want to be tied to anybody that doesn't have the long. I got what you mean. She could.
SPEAKER_01I got it.
SPEAKER_07I promise you. But I'm not going to continuously be tied to people that mean nothing. Okay. I don't want to carry that with me. I can't, I can grow. But where am I gonna grow to if I got you with me? Your spirit bad, I'm trying to turn mine good. We can't go nowhere like that. No. No.
SPEAKER_05And unfortunately, but I think that people settle for the surface encounters, whether that's sexual, whether it's pretentious, um, because it's a lot easier to exist there, because you don't have to be vulnerable. You don't have to really be accessible, you can be performant, you can present an idea of you or what you think they want to either obtain more time, opportunity, or I love it.
SPEAKER_07And I wholeheartedly agree with you, but as a single female, I refuse to play that game. I've done it before. I hurt people along the way because I was taught the cycle.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_07I love the accountability. Oh, yeah, I was toxic. It's a self-awareness. Yeah, I was toxic. And I refuse to play that cycle again. So now I am open and up front, but I am not playing with your feelings while I'm doing it. I'm actually being vulnerable in the ways that I can be. That's not gonna tie you to me.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_07That way I'm practicing my vulnerability for my man that's coming, and no offense. So that you get the real thing. Yes. Women, women, men are not trying to do that. That takes too much work for them. And too much time.
SPEAKER_05Because while you're healing, most times you gotta go and sabbatical.
SPEAKER_07That means you gotta stop.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And then when you heal and you do that self-work and that shadow work, when you come back, what you was rocking with before don't have the same appeal. That's attracted to it.
SPEAKER_04I'm good. You still doing that? I'm gonna be I'm gonna be good. Yeah, and sometimes vulnerability is intimidating to others because they're not true with themselves.
SPEAKER_07Speak on my last relationship.
SPEAKER_05Well, you know what? There's a saying from um, who was that? He's a life coach, uh, John Maxwell. He has a book that says everybody communicates, feel connect. And so we're all talking, you know, we're all doing the morning, good morning, beautiful, good morning, handsome. We're all doing the text throughout the day. We're all saying, Yeah, unsubscribe me from that.
SPEAKER_03How was your day? Unsubscribe me. I the dungeon good morning, beautiful everybody.
SPEAKER_04I need to be separate, I need to be special.
SPEAKER_03Unsubscribe me from that.
SPEAKER_07If your thing for me is saying what's up in the morning, just say what's up. I don't need all the extra bull. Be you and come to me with you. For real.
SPEAKER_05And that's another thing we might be. If not, become more, but never settle for less.
SPEAKER_07Too many people worry about what it looks like on the outside. They can't afford to be them. That's why we say gotta say gotta say But that's why we're in these bad relationships. Because we're not willing to be us. These people don't know us. I know me, because I ain't gonna lie to you.
SPEAKER_05So who you gonna be? Whoever you need to be at that moment.
SPEAKER_07And that's a bad place to be. I refuse to ever be there. I have never been changed. That's why I said I'll be Cleo any day you call me, because I refuse to be anything other than Less Thane.
SPEAKER_05Did you say Cleo?
SPEAKER_07That's what she called me, her. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Cleo from the um Yes, psychic.
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_05I always wonder when they go off air or they get discovered that they know that somebody was uncovering them. Did you see that, Miss Cleo?
SPEAKER_03I never got into that.
SPEAKER_05She was involved. Accident was fake. Insights were fake.
SPEAKER_07I'm glad I don't follow the media much. Good God.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, but people spend a lot of time just presenting what they know, what they think people need, what they want to be. And then the sad part about it is people can do it for years at a time in committed relationships.
SPEAKER_07I don't understand it. I hate to say it, but that's literally what I just said. I just I was baffled when I got the fuck out of it. I ain't even gonna hold you. I was baffled when I got out of it because I'm like, nobody really, really wants to be themselves. Like, ever. Ever. And then you I see honestly, I see why people look at me and are either intimidated or unimpressed. Because they're not familiar with authentic and I don't hold my tongue for nobody. I ain't gonna be mean, I ain't gonna be rude, but I'm gonna say what the fuck I can do. Absolutely, absolutely. Nobody's willing to do that. And when you do, you're mean, you're rude. Yo, why you gotta be that way? Because you're not gonna accept it any other way. If I give it to you with no. Yeah, yeah. No, man. All I got is me. Man. And I don't mean no harm. That work you ain't doing, I'm doing double of that because I'm trying to fix my shit. I'm breaking generational curses. I ain't got time to be over here trying to pat your back. Because you don't want to do nothing. You mad because you ain't got no man, but you ain't trying to get no man because you don't want to be here.
SPEAKER_05Go sink. Go sink.
SPEAKER_07I'm just saying. No, I mean. And even men are afraid or intimidated because you got a confident woman. What the fuck? Ain't that what that's what a wife is? That means dude is insecure. That's what a wife is.
SPEAKER_05Dude is insecure. He's not a man. I don't care what he brows. I don't care what he owns. I don't care what he swings. Say it again. Yo, you need to be right in the head.
SPEAKER_03Say it again. And in your cacti. Say it again. In your ethics. If not, you're going home. If you're going male. You're going home.
SPEAKER_05You're going to be the man. Should cause you to be unsettled and not know who you are. That should be a welcome challenge, a welcome balance, and a welcome journey to a life of happiness.
SPEAKER_07Guess what? I'd rather be called a king than actually be a king.
SPEAKER_05Because we got actors on stage.
SPEAKER_02Huh. Come on. Say it again.
SPEAKER_05And when the scene, who are you?
SPEAKER_03Because I'm not a real boy.
SPEAKER_01I am not a real boy.
SPEAKER_05But you know what? Her angle on that was so tender.
SPEAKER_04And it was. It was true.
SPEAKER_05Because it was things that boys do to women that they don't realize that they're growing. And only a woman can talk from that perspective. But again, mature people who are willing to basically relationships when you get together, you can heal together and become who you need to be, but you have to be willing to be transparent, to be honest, to do the work, and trust that I'm healing and you're healing, and if we do it together, we grow and advance for it.
SPEAKER_07Guess what the best part of that is? You actually get that shit and do it right. Imagine that. And not another failed relationship. All you have to do is open up, be vulnerable, and communicate the proof.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah to your person. And then the reality is don't be married to the outcome. Live in the day. And so if it carries you for the balance of your days, enjoy the bliss. If it carries you for just a couple of years, enjoy the bliss.
SPEAKER_07I want people to understand that whether you have a man, whether you have a woman, whether you have yourself, you're going to be fine regardless. When you realize that, you will get so much further in life.
SPEAKER_05I like it. You're going to be fine either way. Matter of fact, because if you are, I feel like if you're fine alone as an individual, you'll be superb with the right connection.
SPEAKER_07People want someone to come in and fix their love. Come in and love me. Nobody's trying to love themselves. So that when that person is gone, you're still okay. That's what my healing has actually taught me. I lied to you not. That's one thing I have learned. Regardless of who is in my life or out of my life, I have me and I can give me all the things that I need. And that's it. I will never be without.
SPEAKER_05I'm more than enough.
SPEAKER_07When you come in, you add to. You know what my therapist asked me Monday? Does he add to?
SPEAKER_05Isn't that a song? Yeah. We got a song for everything. We got a song for everything. Yeah, add to me.
SPEAKER_07But no, that is a great perspective when you get because I explained to her when my last relationship ended, I don't want anyone in my life that's not going to add anything.
SPEAKER_05The problem with that is people are looking to add, they're looking to replace.
SPEAKER_07I don't need you to read to fix.
SPEAKER_05I need you to love me while I fix myself.
SPEAKER_07Love me to fix me. Love me so that I can be fixed.
SPEAKER_05Give me a safe place and environment that allows fixing and hearing.
SPEAKER_07It's too hard to do though. Yeah. Because then I gotta realize who I am and what I am and how I feel and what I do.
SPEAKER_05People are so many other things besides themselves.
SPEAKER_07Nobody's willing to be accountable.
SPEAKER_05I like it.
SPEAKER_07Nobody.
SPEAKER_05We'll say ye, Chrissy. Huh? We'll say ye. I know you like me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but nobody likes it. I'm a man.
SPEAKER_03No one besides me.
SPEAKER_01This is not okay.
SPEAKER_03A chest, just a chance.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we just in the room, ain't nobody here. Exactly. Be hurt. Sit down. No, that was a good perspective. I like it. No, that was dope.
SPEAKER_07That was amazing that people aren't going to be themselves and then get mad when they can't find a relationship.
SPEAKER_05They don't find a value in being themselves because society really provokes them and encourages them and convinces them to be so, so much more than they're not. To become something, present something, fuss about things, having things, and you don't have anything to add to the world, or to build your life and give somebody. And I admit, it takes time. Oh yeah. It takes time, but it takes more than that. It takes effort. And the effort is the intentionality.
SPEAKER_02That's what I was gonna say. That's what the intention is. Or they secretly holding you to expectations you have no idea of. Well, comparing you to things compare you to other people at your and then expect me to be.
SPEAKER_03And then these secret tests that they're doing. Yes. And that's open is an effective communication.
SPEAKER_05Some people, you know, ascribe to it and find value in it to help them evaluate in 90 days. If this person is not necessarily the person for you the rest of your life, but somebody you want to continue, pursue something with. So it's in those times, back to your initial point, see, being intentional. So if we're gonna do a 90 day, if we're gonna use a 90-day framework, then in 90 days I need to be having the kind of conversations that reveal me and gain me access to you so that I can determine one, if this is somewhere I'm gonna stay and move forward, and it's worth the effort in building on.
SPEAKER_07Thank you. How many people are thinking that way? I miss, because I'm all alone in the room.
SPEAKER_05It's just me. Well, I said I was alone, so it's nobody in the sighting lobby. I'm alone in the room.
SPEAKER_03Just me. Me and Jesus.
SPEAKER_04That's it.
SPEAKER_03Just Jesus. I mean, he's cool, but I mean, thank you to all of us. Thank you. He's always around. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I can always count him. I need somebody else to do it. Y'all alright? Come on.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, sit there. But you you hear what I'm saying. Yeah. I get you. Yeah, I mean, I just think it's just more mindful conversation, but also the culture has shifted so much about relationships. It's so accessible now that you don't have to work for them. You're gonna find somebody who doesn't value themselves. So they're gonna give you everything. And it's more transactional and benefits. What can you do for me?
SPEAKER_07That's ridiculous. Because you remember we were talking, and I was like, women are making it hard for women, and men are making it hard for men. Yes. I don't understand what the going on. I think you know drink out this draw. What's going on? Hold on.
SPEAKER_04It's one of them eco-friendly type straws. Eco-friendly is in the way.
SPEAKER_05You can't the enemy in my soul. I mean my drink. Let me take this truck. Take it to the hand.
SPEAKER_03Take it to the hand. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers to us.
SPEAKER_05Cheers to love and happiness.
SPEAKER_07Love y'all. That will hurt. I got a trigger moment. Now I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_05Oh, sorry. We don't want to activate this. Stand down. Y'all, this is so good. Trigger.
SPEAKER_03When I hear your name, trigger.
SPEAKER_05But I will say, I still got faith. I still got hope. I think you are nothing bean and disagreeable, cold hearted, but I still got a lot of love to give. I still believe it. And I'm willing to heal, stay alone, be alone, and navigate to wherever it brings me where I need to be. And I'm doing because I'm liking it.
SPEAKER_07A lot of people don't like themselves. That is a good place to be. It really is. I will wholeheartedly agree with you. I am there with you. I don't need anything, anything that comes along. Then don't get this whiskey. My man is coming to love on me because I've been through enough. I know God has better for me. I am patiently waiting and working on myself to be better for when he talks to you. But that's the thing that women aren't doing. They want to go out and buy the Mercedes so you can see the Mercedes and be like, oh, you want to ride with me? I ain't got time for that bullshit. Because if all you want is my money, I can just give you that and go about my business.
SPEAKER_05Or you can get that anywhere else.
SPEAKER_07Pretty much. That part.
SPEAKER_04Because there's a lot of dressed up trash bags down here. I'm just saying. Okay, go.
SPEAKER_03I like it. Would you care? Would you carry out the room box? Dressed up traps, man. You are put that for dinner outside.
SPEAKER_05Shiny toothplay.
SPEAKER_02Anything that glitter ain't gold.
SPEAKER_03At the right angle, that shit gotta go in there.
SPEAKER_07It gotta spark too. Y'all don't know spider shine at night.
SPEAKER_05So good. But I think I love the levity of this conversation. It's not so deep. I can tell how we express that we face some pains and fix ourselves and yield ourselves and can talk freely and be honest about where we are, which may translate with someone else, or maybe our own unique experiences. And that's what matters at the end of the day. Then we become ready for what's ahead of us. And I was having a conversation out there. I feel like in life, it's really not until you have some adult experiences and get over the hump that you are really ready to mindfully approach a relationship. Sure, you can marry young, have kids, it lasts for a million years, or be fulfilling, or bringing what you need. But I personally I feel like there's some things that I've experienced throughout life that makes me just a better potential partner now than I could have ever been. Because now I have convictions about who I am, settled on who I am. I'm fixed on that. Not so fixed that I'm rigid and can't evolve in a relationship, but have a full understanding that when a relationship comes my way, I can say, this is who I am and what I have to offer. And when we share and have an exchange of ideas of where we want to be and accomplish in life, we can find our way into that and grow individually as well as together to develop a solid relationship. So it just depends on where we are in life. But the key is there is hope. There is opportunity and there is a chance for you.
SPEAKER_07Today's society doesn't have that hope. They're just playing a game to get along the road, basically. And it's crazy because you are expecting love but looking for whatever you can get. Exciting and new.
SPEAKER_05We're not drunk, but we're happy.
SPEAKER_07That's all I'm gonna say once a week. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Got it.
SPEAKER_07Got it. Nobody is willing to actually do what it takes to actually figure out what love really is. Yeah. It's just their perception of it that they're looking for. You want a wife, but what does that consist of? You want a husband, but what are you looking for? Yeah, what does that mean? Do you want somebody that's just gonna just pay your bills? Do you want somebody that's just gonna have to fuck with you every once in a while? Are you looking for somebody to just be supportive? Like what are you looking for?
SPEAKER_05Well, you know, something that comes from culture and upbringing and how marriage or relationships were presented to you, what to expect, how to be prepared, and what to consider. And the unfortunate part about it is some people have been prepared and have been hurt. Some people are navigating to hurt, some people are just out here grabbing the remnants of somebody else's foil, you know, somebody's, you know, rebound. It's so complex relations with people and engaging people, but there comes a point where you can't hide from the pain that you've caused or that you feel. And you gotta become whole and complete or complete enough to move forward to balance yourself with someone else in your life.
SPEAKER_07One of the hardest things I had to do was acknowledge my toxicity in other relationships.
SPEAKER_05Whoa, that's pretty transparent.
SPEAKER_07Yes. But when I actually got to see who I was, I'm not gonna hold you. I was a straight nigga in these streets. Uh straight. But how many people are willing to try and undo that shit?
SPEAKER_05It's much easier for me to call you toxic.
SPEAKER_07So it's easier to hurt people because you're hurt and then wonder why you're dealing with more hurt people.
SPEAKER_05I say hurt people hurt people intentionally. They know exactly what they're doing. You ain't do it off the whim or oh, I've been hurt. Yeah. If you can identify you've been hurt, then you can identify you need to hear.
SPEAKER_07But that means I have to be accountable. True. Who's gonna do that?
SPEAKER_05Get you some real people around you that will hold you away.
SPEAKER_07Ooh, they're gonna tell me what I what I don't want to hear. If I trust them, I'm gonna believe them.
SPEAKER_05That's why I fuck with my people. Gotcha. You gotta get you some people who will hold you, help build you up in all aspects of life. And beyond just the relationship, character, who you are, the way you treat people, the way you move the world, your decorum. You don't just show up and be slick and sexy when you meet somebody. It's who you are in the world, how you get down.
SPEAKER_07Karma is not a real thing in these streets. You do know that, right? What's not a real thing? Karma. Karma? Yes, that is not a real thing in these streets. Big Cat. Big cat. Actually, all caps. Pain and go front. All caps. Super cat. Yes. But no, seriously. I can do you dirty. I'm gonna go down the street and do my man dirty, and ain't nothing gonna happen to me. That's what they believe.
SPEAKER_05Oh, it finds him.
SPEAKER_07Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05Because when you be like, yo, where's gym at? Oh, slim is calm and got it. Yeah. You can't put it out here and it not come back to you.
SPEAKER_07But even when it does, these people just look at it, oh shit, just going wrong for me. I don't know what happened. Nobody's trying to be accountable for what they did three weeks ago to my man down the street. When your boyfriend walked in and you was with my other man. Yeah. Ain't no nothing wrong. That's okay.
SPEAKER_05Let me get a let me call Mariah.
SPEAKER_07Tell me I'm wrong. Did they out here with all of them? What did we just say? You out here date multiples. Multiples at a time. And you think that's okay? But you won't love.
SPEAKER_05And unfortunately, some people will never acknowledge that, will never pursue healing, will never change, will always find the issue if other people's will bypass things spiritually and say all these things, what God didn't do, who they are, and him, what my family didn't do, what I should. And that's fine. Y'all can have all those arguments. Just don't come to my house.
SPEAKER_07I'm gonna tell you, man.
SPEAKER_05I mean, you can feel what you want to feel is just. I'm with you. And I can't say you wrong or right. What I can say, what I have learned in my healing, I've stopped saying people are or aren't. I know what's good for me. Thank you. And if it's not good for me, I step off, I walk away, I let go, I extend it. I don't have no I'm the kind of guy who will disappear in the middle of a sentence and never explain why. Oh, what does a while ago, huh? Not because I'm rude or indifferent, or I don't I don't know how to engage people. Because at some point, you know, I know. Yes, and I think you're gonna create an atmosphere where I'm gonna keep going back and forth trying to address this and do this. You you know if you say you're interested and you want to be and you don't, you don't make the effort, I gotta look for you. You don't reply to text, you don't follow up, you're not there. You just want to tap into the energy. She don't want to sit down in the gosh.
SPEAKER_07And because people allow people to continue to do that, and they spend their time in their lives cultivating those actions and then won't walk away when you realize it ain't what you want.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_07Oh, it's comfortable, ma'am. I'm gonna stay here because it's comfortable. You know what that comfortable comfort that comforter you have, that duvet, oh it's comfortable, but it needs to be washed. Can you clean that? Because it's not it's not clean. You need to change that one out.
SPEAKER_05Christy C said, wash it.
SPEAKER_07Wash it. Change it out. Going to wash that. They got it. They got it. They're gonna sleep on that nasty.
SPEAKER_05You know what we got to do to get right now. Listen, guys, they're gonna come back again. We gotta have C back and Chrissy because this is a conversation that we don't have answers for you necessarily. We don't have the final call for you. But what we want to do is just raise concerns and issues that I'm sure everybody in some pocket time or space has come across. We want to open up the dialogue, provoke your thinking, frustrate you a little bit, even if even trigger you a little bit to think again about that so that you can become the best you, live the life that serves your highest good, and then invite people in that space that can share what that means for you.
SPEAKER_07And when you're triggered, don't get defensive. Look at it, see what it's telling you. Stop being scared. Yeah, sit with it, figure out where it came from because that's what it's there for.
SPEAKER_05People weaponize their trigger now. It's always, well, you trigger me either. We'll fix it. That part. Stop stop always saying you triggered, fix that.
SPEAKER_02And the only way to get over it is to get through it.
SPEAKER_07Tell y'all why I'm triggered. That reminds me of my baby dad, who's no longer my son's father, who's no longer here. So for me, that's a painful moment. It's not something that's gonna make me defensive, it will make me safe. And that's not what I want to be in this moment. That's the only reason most people worry about triggers because, oh damn, I gotta defend myself now. No, you just didn't know any better. Admit that shit. We don't have all the answers. Your parents didn't have them all, your grandparents didn't have them all. It's okay. You won't learn unless you actually start asking questions and trying to figure shit out. Don't learn from your triggers, see who they are.
SPEAKER_05And that's just going back to being honest again. Like we're just ordinary people. And I'm on y'all. I'm on people. We don't know which way to go. And honestly, we don't. And the beauty in being vulnerable and saying that is what gets you to where you're going.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_05Y'all keep it real and stay funky.
SPEAKER_04And stay chic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05See?
SPEAKER_00To be sing, to be cool, let the world know it's true. To be cute, to be loved, never low. Rise up, gonna stay funky, gonna stay chic, gonna stay. Yeah. Gonna stay funky. Gonna stay sh everything that you know you can be.
